Sitting there one day and I just say to myself and my wife, I am going to go hiking Saturday. I knew exactly where I wanted to go and what would be worth it and that was Hawksbill Crag in Arkansas. 2.9 miles in and out trail and 400 ft. in elevation with an awesome view at the end.
This trip I went alone, leaving late in the night and arriving there around 3:30am, sunrise not till 6:30 so I slept, listened to a podcast and scrolled on my phone the best that I could with no service in the area. As the time came closer to hiking in to make sunrise I was reluctant on going into the dark alone so I waited a bit longer. Then a car came over the hill into the parking lot and that was that. I joined a nice couple, after asking them of course and they gladly accepted, stating they had never been so I was kind of their guide even though I had only been there once before and it was in the daytime. Well, we made it just in time and caught the sunrise right before the clouds came in.
Above you see Hawksbill Crag or Whitaker Point whatever you choose to call it. Sitting up there just watching the sunset and taking in the view is and was breathtaking. Here is a video I created during my time up there after I started the hike back out after spending a couple hours hanging out, taking photos and talking to people.
This was shot with the Canon 5d Mark iv with C-log recently installed and color graded with a Matti Haapoja cine luts preset. This was all shot at 60fps and slowed down in post. I really love how this came out and cant wait to shoot some more video soon.
Here are some images I took along the hike, enjoy.
